Affects me and bothers me. Session saving didn't work for gnome-terminal
when using Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) and still doesn't work now with Linux
Mint 13 Cinnamon based on Ubuntu Precise (12.04).
In Lucid, my workaround was to use KDE's konsole instead. However,
temporary kde files are not deleted
This alternating problem persists after several reboots. The do
nothing option, which is still active does not seem to work. Instead
closing the lid seems to operate a switch screen function as it might
be handy for presentations but NOT for working with an external screen.

there are definitely unresolved issues here. I also use an external
monitor and would like to close the laptop lid while working solely with
the external monitor. The external monitor has a higher resolution and a
differing aspect ratio compared to the laptop screen. So I had to
