Nautilus is freezing when access permissions for a folder on mass
storage device are changed. The device is an external hard drive
connected via firewire. Force Quit is successful and the changes are
successfully applied. nautilus-debug-log is empty.

When I try to click into a folder Nautilus closes and reopens in the
home folder. This happens no matter where I enter the filesystem (home,
desktop, USB Drive, etc). Nautilus was working fine until today and no
