[Bug 1709725] Re: the updates tab states that the system is uptodate when it's not
This bug has been true for me for more than 1 year, and my workaround is to type: sudo aptitude (password) U (to get ready to update) g (to show what it’s going to update) g (again to actually DO the update of the files.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1709725 Title: the updates tab states that the system is uptodate when it's not To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1709725/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1709725] Re: the updates tab states that the system is uptodate when it's not
I reported bug 1879543 on 2020-0519 and just remembered to check email. On 2020-0520, I got referred to this bug 1709725. The bug is still present on my system running Ubuntu 18.04LTS as of this morning 2020-0527, confirmed by using aptitude. Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1709725 Title: the updates tab states that the system is uptodate when it's not To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1709725/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1879543] [NEW] "Check for updates" button doesn't work
Public bug reported: Every time I go into Settings (by L clicking the downward triangle in the upper R of the screen), L clicking the button that shows a icon of a screwdriver and a wrench crossing each other). I go to Details. I go to the About tab. I Left click the “Check for updates” button. This function has NEVER worked properly on this laptop. It always opens another window that says “Software is up to date”. I know that the software is not up to date (confirmed in aptitude). As a work around, I have been applying updates through sudo aptitude in a terminal window, but I thought it would be nice for you Ubuntu folks to know the GUI tool for checking for updates has never been working on this laptop (for years). It did not ever work for 18.04.4 for years. I'm going to update to v 20.04.4 this week but it's a long time bug so I think it probably won't be updated in v 20 either. Thanks.
