[Bug 209145] Re: Evince couldnot display chinese pdf files

2010-11-10 Thread poloshiao
The following report is related to a pdf file which will appear broken chinese
charachters while reading with Evince.
This pdf file was shown first at following URL on 14 Oct, 2010 by the author
TuoXian:
http://linux400.dfes.tpc.edu.tw/lifetype/index.php?op=ViewArticlearticleId=45blogId=1
I help translate it into English and post it here.
Our genuine wish is that the developer team of Evince may solve these problems
and let those newbies
read the pdf documents with Evince showing normal chinese charachters without
needing any patch.
This is the URL of the said PDF file: ftp://163.20.82.24/pub/other/98三年級課表.pdf
which was a real timetable used in our school last year.
It was documented with word 2000 and then transformed into PDF through
PDFcreator by our colleague.
It became a big trouble to popularize the ubuntu OS in school because it will
appear broken chinese charachters with Evince because all teachers and
executive authorities should refuse to use these kinds of PDF documents.
It is also a strange experience that we can read normally with okular under
ubuntu 9.10 or before. We are eager to know the reason why it appears broken
under okular then from 10.04 and on.
We upload the PDF file as a detached file timetable.pdf as follows.
It will be marvelous if you may solve this harassed problem so that everyone,
including the newbies, can read the PDF documents easily with Evince.

[Bug 350329] Re: gnome-session-properties dialog is far too small

2010-10-19 Thread poloshiao
We find out Bug#350329 just before we plan to post this bug report which
described almost the same situation as we met, so we post it here as an
reinforcing report. What we want to emphasize is that the status under
Chinese circumstance, maybe the same as Asian characters, is worse than
under English environment.

subject: to keep the windows of gnome-session-properties opened with an
optimal width when first clicked.

This bug report was posted originally by xenomorph0525 on 2010/10/16 23:00:22.
Its url is : http://www.ubuntu-tw.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=18660
I help translate it into English and post here.

This report is related to the width of the windows of application gnome-
session-properties.

The 1st screenshot was taken from ubuntu 10.10 with English language as default.
http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/7261/1010e1.png
This is almost the same as that one sent by Jack Wasey in Comment 1 for bug
350329
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/350329/comments/1

The 2nd screenshot was taken from ubuntu 10.10 with Traditional Chinese
language as default.
http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/8560/1010c1.png
Because the length of the Chinese sentence becomes so short that, Not like
under English environment, it becomes so narrow in width and one hardly take a
clear look of the items inside the windows without dragging the windows wider.
Sometimes it takes too much time to aim at the edge of the windows and drag it
to a comfortable size with the pointer of the mouse. It becomes very
unconvenient to all users with Traditional Chinese as default local language.

It should be wonderful if you are so kind to keep the windows opened
with a reasonable size when first initiated.

[Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines

2010-10-03 Thread poloshiao
It was Ok when I installed openSSH on this May as soon as ubuntu 10.04 LTS came
out.
It encountered the same problem as described above when I make another new
installation this afternoon.
It was resolved after runnig ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa as said on these comments.
I found out another thing not mentioned here.
There was a file called known_hosts in ~/.ssh/ when I installed on this May.
This file known_hosts disappeared when I installed this afternoon, so it failed.
The file known_hosts appeared again after runnig ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa, so it
was perfect.
