Re: [Bug 291813] Re: rhythmbox-metadata process uses 100% cpu, even after closing app
I know what's causing the bug. It's when I'm downloading many video files simultaneously into a subdirectory of my rhythmbox library directory when I have rhythmbox set to watch my library for new files. As the downloading files are continually being updated, rhythmbox continually tries to index them. [Bug 32589] Re: Selection doesn't change when visiting a special location
I frequently notice a similar thing when using the back/forward buttons. (I am using intrepid.) For example: 1. Open File System in tree view 2. Open /etc 3. Click on /etc/acpi to view the contents of that directory 4. Click on /dev to view the contents of that directory 5. Click the little down arrow beside /etc to collapse that directory's tree view 6. Click the back button in the toolbar to return to /etc/acpi in the main file list pane. Nautilus highlights /etc in the tree view, but doesn't expand the tree view to display the subdirectories of /etc. (This is where things begin to go wrong -- nautilus should probably expand the tree view and highlight /etc/acpi, where I actually am viewing.) 7. Click the little right arrow to expand the tree view to display the subdirectories of /etc like nautilus ought to do already. 8. Now the tree view breaks down: - clicking on /etc does nothing - clicking on subdirectories of /etc does nothing - clicking on other directories under File System does nothing 9. Furthermore, if I collapse /etc again and click around to other directories under File System, /etc remains highlighted and even though I can navigate to other directories, clicking on /etc still does nothing. I've attached a screenshot of this behaviour (/etc remaining highlighted while I'm browsing /dev.) Collapsing File System resets the tree view so it works properly again. ** Attachment added: /etc remains highlighted while browsing /dev http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19267843/Screenshot-dev%20-%20File%20Browser.png -- Selection doesn't change when visiting a special location https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/32589 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 288594] Re: Chess board disappears after one move in 3d mode.
After upgrading to intrepid, the problem is improved, but not completely resolved. Now the chess window flashes to black for approximately a half-second whenever I click on the board, but the board reappears after. Whenever I click anywhere else on the screen other than the board, all or part of the chess windows turns black permanently until I click on the board again (or where the board would be), which triggers a proper redraw. 3d mode is playable now, at least. -- Chess board disappears after one move in 3d mode. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288594 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-games in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 291810] [NEW] MSC music device doesn't appear after intrepid upgrade
Public bug reported: Device is Sansa Clip 4GB. Worked fine under Hardy, but now it doesn't appear in rhythmbox under Intrepid. It shows up if I enable the MTP plugin in rhythmbox, but all my songs are already transferred via MSC, so I can't see them. [Bug 291813] [NEW] rhythmbox-metadata process uses 100% cpu, even after closing app
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I store videos and music in the same directory, and have rhythmbox watching that directory for new music. While I am downloading video, the rhythmbox-metadata process uses 100% cpu constantly. Since upgrading to intrepid, that process remains active at 100% cpu even after I close the rhythmbox app. It isn't even set to be a low-priority process (nice = 0). ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- rhythmbox-metadata process uses 100% cpu, even after closing app https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 291813] Re: rhythmbox-metadata process uses 100% cpu, even after closing app
Turns out the rhythmbox app main process was still active after I closed the app, probably related to another bug I just filed (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/291810) where my Sansa Clip player fails to show up in rhythmbox under intrepid. The rhythmbox process was launched by the system as: rhythmbox file:///media/SANSA%20CLIP Perhaps failing to communicate properly with the device (which worked fine under hardy) caused the app to shutdown improperly. Also the 100% cpu at nice 0 still isn't cool, especially when there are no new music files for rhythmbox to possibly be indexing (only new video files). And it shouldn't index continually while I'm downloading, just when I'm done. -- rhythmbox-metadata process uses 100% cpu, even after closing app https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 291833] [NEW] tree view item does not disappear when i unmount a usb drive
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Using Ubuntu 8.10, nautilus 1:2.24.1-0ubuntu1. I have the left sidebar of nautilus set to display tree view. Normally two items are shown: Home Folder and File System. When I plug in a USB device and it automounts, I get a third item for that device. When I right click on the USB device and select unmount (or eject, which is sometimes available) immediately after mounting and before browsing any files on the device, the tree view returns to the normal two items. But if I browse any files on the device first, the usb device remains in tree view, although an error occurs if I try to access it. If I plug the device back in again without closing the nautilus window, another copy of the device appears in the tree view. [Bug 288593] Re: Chess uses 100% cpu only when I play black
A little more investigation shows that it uses 100% cpu whenever I start a new game using the new game command. The only way it uses a reasonable amount of cpu is when I have ended a game on the previous session, and the new session starts with the default game (human: white vs. comp: black). The 100% cpu usage persists on games started with new game even if I restart the app, as long as I have made a move before restarting. If I haven't made a move, the new game is lost and the app restarts with the default game, so it is impossible for me to play black without having the 100% cpu. The behaviour doesn't change in 3d mode. (I am unable to make more than one move in 3d mode due to another bug.) As I mentioned, I am using Hardy. I will be upgrading to Intrepid in the next days. I created a new user and the problem is the same. I notice that the app spawns a new gnome-gnuchess process for every new game, and those processes are the ones using all the cpu. If I start one new game, and then start another, the system will have two gnome- gnuchess processes running, each using 50% cpu.
