Rhythmbox was being effected by this for me, but thankfully someone
somewhere fixed it. I am guessing there was a duplicate bug report. If I
stumble upon the duplicate, then I will link it, otherwise I will change
the status in a few days.

Miroslav Durian,
Many people are happily using the ubuntu install with default settings
without any problems.
I like having the buttons on the left as is puts the close button closer
to the menu drop downs.
Why are you prying for info? If you are interested in what is going on
with the right side of the window, then join the group Mark mentioned.
It has been made very, very, very easy to select a different theme with
the buttons on the right. I did a clean install of Lucid and all of my

How does ubuntu's buttons break Debian?
@Martin- How do you get the UI has changed during the freeze when there
have been no updates released in more than 48 hours?

@Pyramid Technologies,
I can agree with you on liking to see the buttons be easily movable. I
have moved them back and forth and changing their order and it appears
they have fixed the chopped look that once was an issue after moving
them.
It would be nice to see a button switcher that works
I recently signed the Launchpad CoC, so I plan to not engage in people's
personal issues.
I think the changes made to the themes are awesome. Having the buttons
on the left makes for shorter travel distance between closing one window
and opening the menu to get the next application started.

I am not sure why they changed their minds about the search engine,
though I am glad they did. Searching Yahoo for Ubuntu fixes just wasn't
working well. Google loves us, so we should love them back.
I did notice that when choosing themes other than Ambiance, Dust, and
Radiance, the buttons are
Mark,
You are right and I apologize for attacking Bob. It was very
unprofessional of me.
Thank you for sharing this amazing product and hopefully this new
innovation your team is working on will push us towards fixing bug #1.

Bob, your only reason for rejecting ubuntu's buttons is stubbornness.
The fact that your grand mother was using a computer shows she is
capable of change being that most likely when she was born there were no
TVs much less computers. How many people were really using desktop
computers in the 70s?
Pedro, I tried the debugging wiki and had problems getting it to install
yelp-dbgsym. It couldn't be found in Synaptic after adding the
multiverse repo. I will give it another shot tomorrow. I did just
reproduce the bug by toggling the volume while playing an MP3. Hopefully
the uploaded info will

@hills You should have added the next line showing your movement to the
menu to open the next window or app, which would make the travel to the
close button on the right a longer wasted path. With the close button on
the left you don't have to go far to open the next application.

I like it. I don't see why people flame such a small change.
@ Oli, umm he has plans for the right side. Ever heard of trade
secrets? Sounds logical enough to me.

Thank you!

F.U.D.? Not. Don't bend my words with your sarcasm. Trade Secrets are
ideas, not patents. Once their idea is out in the light, then anyone
will be able to copy it.

I am still amazed that people insist that a new person coming from
Windows would have a problem with the button change.
An person without an open mind would not leave Windows for Linux.

There are a few others on this subject as well in the same sub-forum.
You will see there are a lot of knee jerk responses, but there are quite
a few good arguments for both sides of the issue.

Mr. Pako, I am glad we seem to have the same point of view with this. I
have faith that Mark and others have an innovative plan for our new
button layout, but I think there will be quite a few people that just
can't handle change.
Way up the list there was a post about system admins wouldn't

That is assuming that people coming from Windows are not open minded to
change, which I find to be hard to believe, being the person has

I have been testing this for a few days on my Netbook with touchpad only

them being on the left.
