I've noticed that at some point gnome-shell starts consuming twice that
amount of CPU resources when moving my mouse over the desktop, reaching
nearly 100%, i.e. to the point where the desktop experience is not good.

I'm sorry, the 20% part was a bit of an overstatement, after observing
more I can say it's somewhere between 1% to 5%.
I have the following extensions active:
- Desktop Icons NG
- Ubuntu AppIndicators
- Ubuntu Dock
Disabling all extensions didn't change anything in my case.

My suggestion now is that was a problem with power (usb). As I remember
I connected my phone through a usb hub. Now I connect it directly and

Ok, I've figured it out. "if" without "then" in upstart jobs:
/usr/share/upstart/sessions/gnome-keyring-{gpg,ssh}.conf
Attached patch fixes it.

right control as level5 modifier in git. Thank you everybody. Really
sorry there is no perfect solution here...

Gentlemen, I am really stuck at that point. I am refusing to make any changes
before there is either some kind of agreement - or there are some minimally
conclusive voting results.
I do not take any sides (I cannot have any personal opinion, not using French).
I am just freezing the situation.
So, finally, is everybody happy with me removing that line:
