RE: [Bug 439448] Re: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets
I keep saying the problem relies in the session indicator 0.4.6 panel. I got tow monitors, on the left one there are all the panels, in the right one the session indicator one, the mail one and the volume one. I had removed the session indicator panel (i don't use it) in jaunty jackalope, and i didn't experience the bug anymore. Upgrading to Maverick Meerkat restored this panel and... guess what? this panel is scrambled. Beware, only this panel is scrambled on the only monitor it is placed (the right one). As a result I can't shutdown by the shutdown button on the right monitor (though I can use the left one). Let's see... by now I'm gonna remove this session indicator panel. -- Visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
RE: [Bug 439448] Re: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets
That's ok, I can understand proposing a normal user to use Ubuntu if he can't get his printer to work, but how can I tell a normal user to use Ubuntu if he cannot shutdown his computer? However, I am not affected by this bug anymore, even if I can't tell you why... anyone wondered if changing the icons in the toolbar was the way to reproduce the bug? -- Visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This may be a shot in the dark, but two days ago, I retouched photos in GIMP for about 3 hours, then shut down. The next morning, my icons on the top panel were badly scrambled. Usually, only my Show Desktop icon is affected (the right third is overlapped by the neighbouring graphic). I moved the panel to the left and back to the top, and since then, it's been fixed (except Show Desktop). I haven't used GIMP since, though, either. -- Visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- Visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 590800] Re: Pause sets video back
I am affected too by this bug. If I am watching a divx movie and I press the space bar button, the movie correctly pauses. If I press the space bar button again, the movie starts again from the beginning. This problem doesn't happen if I set the movie in pause by left-clicking the pause button in the totem-gstreamer window. -- Pause sets video back https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590800 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
Maybe I am starting to figure out something... I've got a dual monitor configuration (not xinerama) and, since i installed the second monitor, this bug we're talking about always happened on the left one (the principal). Interestingly the icons on top right are not the same: wireless is present only in the left monitor, the email and the audio icon only on the right. more interestingly some of the icons are duplicated, as the shutdown button and the session indicator button. 1) Most of the times I encounter this bug the shutdown button disappears and the session indicator appears duplicated. 2) Most of the times the shut down button is not disappeared, the session indicator one appears corrupted. 3) In this precise moment my right screen icons are regular; on my right (principal) screen all the icons are on their place but the session indicator. It is duplicated, visible and working on the right screen, not visible yet working on the left one. Concluding, I firmly believe the problem of the visual corruption relies in the session indicator applet (which may explain why previous ubuntu versions are not affected by this bug) it may sound complicated, so I am adding a couple of screenshots... ** Attachment added: Left / Right session indicator http://launchpadlibrarian.net/51727986/schermata.jpg -- visual corruption affecting several panel applets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 539515] Re: Attempts to mount floppy despite no media present - disable automount
I am affected too by this bug and disabling the floppy in the bios worked too.. But i don't agree with the medium importance assigned to this bug, it definitely reduces the whole system performance, in particular every time nautilus is accessed. It's not a very good visit card for users who are new to linux or new to ubuntu, and I don't understand why everything worked perfectly till karmic.
