This appears to have been resolved in Ubuntu 10.04 (which is a turnup,
as this distro seems to have caused more problems than it cures)

At least once a day, gedit freezes while I'm working. Whenever it
happens, you can't do anything at all, not even close the window. You
have to go to System Monitor to close it. Obviously, there's no way to

Thanks for that. After enabling Users and Groups (which for some reason
was disabled in the menus) I did what you said, and sure, it works for
files on the home disk. And when I came back to my normal user, I see
that it works in my user too BUT ONLY FOR FILES ON THE HOME disk.

was using, it is whatever program reads a pdf when you double click it.
i don't find it hangs when you click on a link. It doesn't do anything.
If you double click, it selects it as if for copying. Right-clicking the

This happened to me, too. I don't know if it means the package has
installed correctly or what. There's an Ok under the scrolling bit,
but you can't select it and Enter does not do anything
