[Bug 296451] Re: gnome-power-manager needs several minutes to load at startup

2009-03-14 Thread Arnaud Soyez (Weboide)
This seems related to this bug:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=571006

But they say the problem might come from Xorg that gives false
brightness values about the LCD screen.

On my HP Mini 1000, removing any dimming option in the gnome-power-
manager preferences is a good work around.

[Bug 301174] Re: Annoying system beep plays instead of alert sound

2009-01-25 Thread Arnaud Weboide Soyez
I confirm this bug for Intrepid.
Gnome doesn't play any Alert Sound when everything is checked in
system-preferences-sound.

I have my internal pc speaker unplugged (because I hate it) but still have the
mod active:
$ lsmod | grep pcspkr
pcspkr 10624 0

I was looking for a way to have gnome make the beep sounds (that would be nicer
than an internal speaker!): here's the question I posted in launchpad (for
references):

More info:

As the error comes from ping, I tried this:

So it should be coming from ping itself?
Can someone second that? What is the -b option? I don't see it in my man ping

[Bug 189294] Re: Alt tab fails

2008-11-04 Thread weboide
I could reproduce this in 8.10.

Open menu Places / Computer
Right click on your cd/dvd player, choose Eject (make sure you didn't have any
cd, and that it's not mounted).
An error dialog should popup.
Try alt-tab to another application.
Now try to alt-tab back to the error dialog. You can't. It's in the background
and the only way of getting it back is to minimize every other window.

The error dialog is raised by gnome-mount.

It should be raised in a way that it should be accessible through alt-
tab, or that it should appear when we alt-tab to the Computer window.
