[Bug 2018155] Re: Can't login to Xorg sessions if desktop zoom was already enabled

2023-12-26 Thread yoyoma2
On ubuntu 23.10 (wayland disabled so required on-screen keyboard can
work) I clicked on Zoom in the Accessibility menu to see something
small. Things got big but I couldn't move the zoomed area with the
mouse. No crash because the zoomed area would randomly shift on
occasion. Impossible to go and turn zoom off.

Logged in and rebooted from another machine but the Zoomed setting is
remembered when you attempt to log into the GUI. Logged in remotely,
enabled wayland, logged into the GUI, turned off Zoom, disabled wayland,
rebooted.

System recovered!

Can the Zoom toggle be removed from the accessibility menu? I've
installed the Magnus screen magnifier as a workaround and it works in
Xorg.

[Bug 1738676] Re: With natural scrolling, horizontal sliders behave backwards

2020-02-07 Thread yoyoma2
With 18.04 LTS, if you login with flashback, the volume slider in the
sound settings as well as the volume slider that drops down when
clicking the speaker indicator behave backwards even when natural
scrolling is off.

With flashback, turning natural scrolling on actually makes both volume
sliders behave as you would expect (up=up, down=down). Using "natural
scrolling" is too unnatural to keep this setting however.

[Bug 1323584] Re: Nautilus crashes when accessing already mounted samba share

2014-10-29 Thread yoyoma2
Microsoft servers drop idle connections after 15 minutes. This behavior
can be disabled by this command as administrator (details:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297684).

net config server /autodisconnect:-1

Alternatively, adding the following script to the gnome startup
applications keeps the connections alive.

#!/bin/bash
while true
do
ls /run/user/`id -u`/gvfs/smb-share:* /dev/null
sleep 600
done

[Bug 1312780] Re: Floating menu mostly disappears in fullscreen mode

2014-09-10 Thread yoyoma2
Note that the problem also occurs when connecting to a tightvnc server
on Windows so the problem is with vinagre/Remote Desktop Viewer 3.10.2.

[Bug 1312780] Re: Floating menu mostly disappears in fullscreen mode

2014-09-10 Thread yoyoma2
The two workarounds mentioned in the redhat bug (The Seltaz, comment #2)
also work on ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

1) Enable Keyboard shortcuts in the View menu. Then F11 exits
fullscreen.

2) Hover the mouse over the centre top of the screen leaving it
stationary for a second or two. Find the invisible Leave fullscreen
button using the tooltips that popup when hovering a few pixels below
the top. If you get another button's tooltip keep the same height and
move left or right and hover again until you find the correct button
location then click carefully without moving.
