Thanks for changing of importance and status!
Desperately I would like to finally move from Windows to Ubuntu and the last
piece would be the transfer of the addresses and the calendar, but it still
doesn't work with the import of the categories.

Yes, bug 491786 is a different problem: The umlauts and special
characters (in a word of any field, e.g. name, address, ...) were not
imported (addresses, notes, calender items), but replaced by a
?-character, e.g. schön -- sch?n, Baños -- Ba?os.

Please change the importance to high than this is really a problem if
you want to move to Ubuntu fully (as I would like to). If this is not
fixed, I would have to add categories to hundreds of contacts by hand

the issue is probably annoying for you but it's only a one time action
from people migrating which though annoying is not qualifying to be on
the high importance bugs, there is lot of crashers and other issues
happening in every day work and those would probably benefit users
better in their daily
I understand your reasoning. But if Ubuntu wants to attract people, the
first steps must work, be as easy and not painful. If there are some
glitches afterwards, it is not so important (I think). I am still using
Ubuntu and am happy with the performance. I don't mind some problems,
but I can't
right, but nobody is not using outlook or need to migrate pst files,
quite some users are using other mailer or starting with ubuntu or use
ldap or imap or google calendar and not having those to migrate, while
it's annoying to you it's just not an issue for the vast majority of our
users

Hello!
Any news about this bug? May you change the importance to high as this
and another evolution import problem prevents me from abandoning Windows
XP/Outlook finally as I have a lot of addresses and categories waiting
for a smooth transfer to Evolution.
Thanks in advance!
