Same bug in ubuntu 9.10 and ubuntu 10.04 64bits, on an Acer Aspire 5738z.
I've noticed that using totem (the same pack of visualiations) the problem does
not occur.
It's a really annoying bug, since I like to let music playing with a nice
visualisation on the screen, but I cannot use rithmbox

Thank you for advice, Sniper. It did help me! But sure, it's not the
real solution. It's just like a crutch for the time being. I wish this
bug to be fixed.

I can confirm this issue in Lucid 10.04, as well as today's Maverick
10.10 daily image + updates.
Rhythmbox version being used is 0.13.0git20100715-0ubuntu8. Attached is
a screen capture of the issue (also had to play around with song time
line to get visualization to even start). After playing

I've had this issue both in 9.10 and 10.4 and was able to reproduce it
on 2 different computers. It behaves for me exactly as you described
every time.

The bugs seem similar once it has frozen. Before that, they are different.
For example, in the other bug, the visualizations show one frame and
then freeze. In this bug, the visualizations go for a whole song and
then freeze when the next song happens to be the same format.
@Captian Chaos:
If you are having this bug happen to you, and you think this bug is important,
then you could set it to confirmed. I can't do that because I'm the one who
reported the bug.

I removed the likely-dup tag since there was no indication *which* bug
it was supposed to be a likely duplicate of. If you want to add it back
please indicate the bug in question.
Also I would like to request a higher importance. Visualisation is a
core component, and it breaks completely after
the goal of the tag is to indicate that the bug is likely a duplicate
without spending hours looking for number, if we had the number it would
be closed as duplicate
