Thanks for your bug report and helping to make Ubuntu better. Go to Facebook on your browser and on the left click your name. For example when I do that I get the web address of http://www.facebook.com/bcurtis*** so when I provide login information to empathy i have my username as bcurtis*** (this is different then the UN/Email i provide when logging into Facebook on the web browser).
