This is an exact copy of the bug I mentioned in my report, I do not have any added details. The reason for my report was that the bug was converted to a question and then expired and should be still open. I agree that priority is low and there are alternatives (ark). I use this because I generate docx documents in php and when opened with archive manager I can look under the hood: go to the file, right click, open with Archive Manager and that is where I get the error message. In previous versions of Ubuntu (11.04, 11.10) this action is possible, AM can open a such files for viewing its content if user chose to right click-open with archive manager. Since .docx and .odf files are XML documents, user should be able to view the content of the file (images, text and stuff are all compressed in a single file with docx/odf extension). But in 12.04 the Archive Manager is unable to open files with that extensions, declaring Archive type not supported. This bug is identical to bug #973675 (for 12.04 beta) which was converted to question #192668 which has expired. In my opinion it is still a bug however.
