lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 12.10
Release: 12.10

uname -a
Linux matt-pc 3.5.0-17-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 9 19:31:23 UTC 2012
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

apt-cache policy file-roller
file-roller:
  Installed: 3.6.0-0ubuntu3
  Candidate: 3.6.0-0ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 3.6.0-0ubuntu3 0

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

apt-cache policy p7zip-full
p7zip-full:
  Installed: 9.20.1~dfsg.1-4
  Candidate: 9.20.1~dfsg.1-4

I am unable to password protect a 7zip archive using file-roller. I
tried both right-click -> Compress as well as as from within file-roller
itself after the archive was created, Edit -> Password. Password
protecting a standard zip archive worked fine, just not 7zip.

I was able to create a password protected 7zip archive using the command below.
7z a archive.7z -t7z -ppassword -mhe directory

** Affects: file-roller (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
