[Bug 1124297] Re: Mouse and touch input devices can't be configured seperately

2013-02-14 Thread Johannes Gowin
As I wrote in Gnome Bugzilla it's pretty sad that this won't be fixed.

I thought maybe like for other additions in the gnome-control-center
this could be also done by Ubuntu. For example the cursor with my Magic
Trackpad is far to slow to be able to work fluently. Also there is a
discrepancy between my build in trackpad and the touchpad of my laptop.

ideally we would have infinite resources and could work on all the
improvements requested, in practice that one doesn't seem like something
we will get to any time soon...

[Bug 1124297] Re: Mouse and touch input devices can't be configured seperately

2013-02-14 Thread Johannes Gowin
Sure thing that you don't have the time to deal with every minor issue
instantly.

But isn't setting this bug to Won't fix telling other people that they
shouldn't have any hope that it ever will get fixed a little bit to
much? (I'm not too familiar with the guidelines how to bug statuses) It
sounds like bad/stupid/unworthy idea that never will be considered.
Wouldn't be Opinion more appropriate? Just my 2 cents worth.

So maybe we should stop that here as I know that this is some minor
thing (even if it is influencing the connection of the user and the
software).

[Bug 1124297] Re: Mouse and touch input devices can't be configured seperately

2013-02-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
well, we keep it as wishlist confirmed if that was a composant where
Ubuntu is upstream, we do try to limit the amonth of changes/patching we
do over GNOME though since that makes our maintenance work much harder
over time. The status used there is just a reflexion of the decision of
people writing the code, maybe in a few cycles we will reconsider or go
a different path for the input settings (like we did already for some
other panels), at which point that will be something we can reconsider

2013-02-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.
