2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or 
by checking in Software Center

d) Goto menu > view > Icons or List or Compact, choose one
e) Results are redisplayed appropriately in the selected view

4) What happened instead
a) Open Nautilus
b) Search for file
c) Wait for results
d) Goto menu > view > Icons or List or Compact, choose one
e) Nautilus restarts search
f) Wait for results again
e) Results are redisplayed appropriately in the selected view

If the results have already been searched for once, steps 4e and 4f
should not happen.
