now i found out tat when i disable the wired network(LAN) at system administration network, the slowness disappear and everything is back to normal however if i re-enable the LAN connection, the problem persist -- menu places in gnome panel launch nautilus very slow

Sebastien, I open the system monitor to see what happen, when i open nautilus from desktop icon no new process was created, the existing nautilus --no-default-windows -sm ... is used to open the location. When I open nautilus from places menu new process nautilus --no-desktop is create. I see too

No, with all places, my bookmarks, my home folder and other places the result is the same 5 seconds, and I repeat inmediatlly to execute nautilus from places menu, you know that when you open an application and then close it the next execution is much more fast, in this case not. In desktop icons
