This happened to me in Ubuntu 13.10, when I was in Gnome 3 fallback desktop. I right clicked on the panel clock - preferences - ticked show weather - close, and then it crashed. If it helps, under the Locations tab, I have only one location, being Sydney Airport Eastern Time (New South Wales).
