simply wait until it happens again so that I can grab a screenshot. I

I think it is with any application that uses the notification area. You
could try killing an application that is using it, but I am not sure if
that always works.

Thanks for reporting. Is this with any application that uses the panel
notification area? How could I reproduce this? This is certainly a task
for upstream, I'm just trying to get something concrete that I can
