Existing gnome-control-center translations were copied into unity-
control-center when this fork was created. But strings that appeared
after the fork, such as the new Unity local menus settings in
"Appearance" are only in the fork.

In Trusty gnome-control-center was "renamed" to unity-control-center and
the string you used as example is effectively untranslated:

In fact, the application that is used in Ubuntu is called "unity-
control-center" although it is ~95% identical to gnome-control-center.
The corresponding catalog is on the end of the 14.04 catalog list, so
the message that was mentioned is not translated into Dutch:
