The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. I installed gutsy tribe 5 on VirtualBox virtual machine and tried Rhythmbox. I'd like to try resetting all the settings for rhythmbox (on feisty) and retry the magnatune plugin, but I don't know how to get rid of all rhythmbox specific settings in my system. Do I need gconf-editor for that? Resetting the configuration didn't help.
