Workaround: kill ibus-daemon This bug appears to be related to a Chrome / Chromium bug here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1307648 because the workaround is the same and the two programs are mentioned in the same bug report here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1307648 This really makes Gimp almost impossible to use.
