I have the same issue. Confirmed that the issue is resolved with
Evolution 3.16. Linked to Debian and Evolution bugs.

I have the same problem. It does not affect .pdf files, but does affect .xls or
.ods (Libre Office spreadsheet) files over about 25kB.
Running Evolution 3.12.11 with SpamAssassin on Ubuntu 15.04 32 bit.

I have the same problem. In my case any attachment is a problem and
sometimes a returned mail without an attachment. Also the search
function in the in-box does not work but it does in all the other boxes.
My config Ubuntu 15.04.32 bits, Unity desktop.

This seems to be a bug in evolution 3.12.11. Is there any chance of a
backport of a newer version? It appears that 3.16 solves the problem.
