Public bug reported: Since ibus did not work for me (it ignored any configured layout and always used english) I tried to install fcitx as a workaround. Fcitx works, yet I am not able to type in á by pressing = and a, only by pressing the "8" key. Yet this only apparently applies to KDE applications such as kwrite and konsole - apparently OpenOffice Writer nor Chromium is unaffected by this bug and correctly responds to =a by typing in á.
