brightness with the applet (nothing happens). Debug output is attached.

This file is the output of dbus-monitor --session
"type='signal',interface='org.freedesktop.PowerManagement.Backlight'". I
decreased and increased the backlight with the GNOME GPM-Applet, but
visually nothing happens (screen stays at 100% backlight).
