Could be dupe of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/150471 . However, I'm not quite sure, because 150471 was about nautilus not shutting down properly after session. I get it hanging on first login and it is not occasional, it is constant (well, 150471 is for many too). I currently have a clean working gutsy and am running updates almost one-by-one to find out what exactly blows it up.
