Thanks to @JayShauer's clue about evolution-alarm-notify, I finally managed to stop the phantom reminder popups that have plagued me since upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04. Agree with Joseph Borg about #8. Evolution notifications are turned on in Gnome Settings.
