Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. When you wan to remove the USB stick, please right click on the icon of the USB stick and use the Unmount Volume option. After that you should be able to remove the USB stick without warnings and your data should be on the USB stick. Please let us know if that solves the problem.
