I have been experiencing the same issue intermittently for probably a year. On my first attempt, the solution proposed in #3 make nautilus open instantly (after clicking the icon once more). Thank you for your bug report. Could you do $ journalctl -f trigger the issue and copy any error from the log? do you have other softwares having a such slowness?
