I'm seeing this as well.
I have a Wayland session, from which I ssh to another host and run geany
(forwarded over ssh).
Gnome-shell immediately crashes.
Interestingly, forwarding xterm from the remote host does not cause a
crash.

I've tried removing them all, and still seeing the crash. Of interest
though, it looks like only some apps using the indicator are triggering
the crash. For example, starting mattermost-desktop or discord triggers
the crash when it registers the appindicator. But starting telegram-
desktop doesn

I can look into it, I feel also mutter plays a role here. Indeed being
triggered by the extension.

Hmm, I'm running multiple indicators from multiple apps and I still
can't reproduce this crash. So my next suspicion is that it may be
caused by the usual:
