I am having the same exact issue for the last 2 weeks or so. I am not so technically savy but everything would freeze and start up again in about 2 seconds. I Also just noticed my gnome-shell process was over 6 gigs in memory after an uptime of about a week or so -- You received this bug

Thanks for the bug report. This reminds me of suspected leaks I noticed a while back in: /proc/`pidof -s gnome-shell`/maps relating to 'i915.gem' entries. I only know they're related to Intel GPU memory usage and a growing number over time sounds like some kind of leak. Do you notice the same
