2008-07-05 Thread Ludwig
Yes, it happens with applications associated to extensions (file types)
too, see comment # 12 in this bug report.

Yes this is with a clean Hardy install. It happened since day 1 of the
install, and it is still happening today after 200 official updates
(July/08).

Doing Help About in Nautilus shows 2.22.3.

I believe that this bug reported for the Bluefish editor:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluefish/+bug/207189

... is a consequence of this same annoying bug in Nautilus.

2008-06-01 Thread Goren
Yeah, I confirm this too. I'm using Hardy after upgrading from Edgy.
There I used XMMS for opening folders, but in Hardy I decided to switch
to Audacious. XMMS is still in my open with menu, even though the app
itself is not around anymore. But other apps don't add there. And yes,
it is only so for 'folder' type, all 'normal' files are opened okay.

2008-05-20 Thread Francesco Potortì
I can confirm this. I used to open image directories using Gthumb.
After upgrading to Hardy, I lost the list of applications to use with
right-click for opening a folder.
Even after choosing Gthumb from the list of possible applications, it is not
remembered in the list.

[Bug 204826] Re: Hardy - After rIght click on folders and opening with application, the selected app is not remembered

2008-03-23 Thread STudo
I can confirm this. I am running a Hardy 64bit, alphs 6 installed and
with all latest updates. However if you choose to set the bullet under
the open with-fan to open folder, it shows all options. I can see
all the alternatives in the fan. Choosing something else gives some
strange results. Sometimes it chooses another option, but not the one
where the bullet is.

It is only for folders the problem exists. Nautilus version 1:2.22.0

2008-03-22 Thread Ari
Just confirmed: the problem is specific to the Folder type. Regular
files do not have this problem.

I think the difference haso do with the fact that folders always at
least one Open With action (if you right click on a folder
Properties Open With, you can see it, it's Open Folder) and this
default action does not change, double clicking in a folder always opens
the folder.

Thank you for your bug report. Does it happen using applications too? Is
that clean user configuration? Changing the default applications works
correctly on the current hardy for me. What version of nautilus is
installed?

[Bug 204826] Re: Hardy - After rIght click on folders and opening with application, the selected app is not remembered

2008-03-21 Thread Ari
Yes this is from a clean (blank) Hardy beta install.

There is something weird going on.

This is on Folders only. First thing I did, was the Open with other
app on one of my audio folders. I selected audacious, audacious opened,
all right.

Now the Open with audacious was not showing up in Nautilus' context
menu. Reboots and all, still not showing, I had to use open with other
app menu every time.

Now per your suggestion above, I tried adding a second app: VLC. Did the
Open with other app on my folder and selected VLC. VLC opened.

Again, the Open with VLC has NOT been added to nautilus context menu
for folders. BUT now Audacious shows up!!

What I also notice is that if I right click on a folder and do
Properties, then Open With, I can see both Audacious and VLC listed.
However only audacious shows up in the context menu.

Looks like the latest additon to the Open With menu is lost in the
context menu.
