To reproduce this problem in Lucid, create test.tex:
\documentclass[a4paper]{article}
\begin{document}
\begin{equation}
\vec{\nabla}
\end{equation}
\end{document}
Then: latex test;dvipdf test;evince test.pdf
You will produce 4 or 5 lines of Error: Illegal entry in bfrange block
in ToUnicode
The issue Ramos brought up here was confirmed for xpdf on Lucid. One of

I am using Ubuntu 10.04. Whenever I compile a .tex file, and convert the
dvi to pdf, with the pdf open in xpdf or evince, I am getting the error
message: Error: Illegal entry in bfrange block in ToUnicode CMap. What
can be the problem and how to fix it?

evince 2.22.2-0ubuntu, it behaves like there is a memory leak that is
suppressed by a garbage collector: the amount of reserved memory grows
when doing operations with a pdf document (like zooming and scrolling).
When the document is left still, evince returns some part of the memory

Hello,
I have the same problem but it seems to stabilize at 788Mb.
But if I try to zoom, evince tried to use all my memory.
I' attached a pdf causing the problem.
PS : I've reported a lot of messages on the console : there are
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ evince reduction.pdf
