[Bug 273646] Re: The current Ubuntu quit applet can be much better

2009-01-18 Thread Roman Friesen
QuitAppletPlus [1] is ready for your feedback!

Highlights:
- quit actions are easy available, without overloading the view
- more intuitive action names and icons for inexperienced users
- configurable quit applet menu design/behavior
- protection against accidentally choosing wrong actions without "Are you
sure?"-confirmations
- extended quit options, hidden by default
- alternative approach to protect other logged-in users if you perform shut
down or restart
- graphical countdown by automatic quit
- and finally you can power off the computer only with one mouse click!

See the project wiki [2] for more details, screenshots and installation
guides.

Just test it and say what you think about it [3][4]. It's _only_ a
graphical prototype so you can test it without any fear :)

[Bug 273646] Re: The current Ubuntu quit applet can be much better

2008-09-25 Thread Roman Friesen
** Description changed:

  Problems:
  - not clear view: it shows the quit options as two dimensional matrix, that
makes difficult to find the desired one
  - too much quit options - actually seven (lock screen, log out, switch user,
reboot, shut down, suspend to ram, hibernate)
  - too static: there are no (visible) applet settings, like quit confirmation
or setting some items invisible
  - lack of cool stuff ;)

- So it is the reason, why the "quit-applet" project is started :)

Dear BugSquad Team, it's only a symbolic bug, you don't need to triage
  it.
