Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
Ubuntu: 8.04.1 Evolution: 2.22.3.1-0ubuntu1 libgtkhtml3.14-19: 3.18.3-0ubuntu2 gtkhtml3.14: 3.18.3-0ubuntu2 Case 1: Click New to start a new message. Error (attached) appears. Click OK to close the error. Evolution keeps running. Case 2: Click Reply to reply to a message. Same error appears. Click OK to make Evolution crash. Error text: Could not create composer window. Unable to activate the HTML editor control. Please make sure that you have the correct version of gtkhtml and libgtkhtml installed. Apport did not generate a backtrace. I tried following the DebuggingProgramCrash instructions for a Backtrace. GDB finished loading the debugging symbols, and I told it to continue. I then reproduced the crash, and asked gdb for the backtrace, registers, etc. as outline. It had no record. (gdb) continue Continuing. [New Thread 0x444f0950 (LWP 18364)] [Thread 0x444f0950 (LWP 18364) exited] Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. [Switching to Thread 0x7f3a3e9817c0 (LWP 17262)] e_msg_composer_get_hdrs (composer=0x0) at e-msg-composer.c:6572 6572 e-msg-composer.c: No such file or directory. in e-msg-composer.c (gdb) continue Continuing. Program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. The program no longer exists. (gdb) backtrace full No stack. (gdb) info registers The program has no registers now. (gdb) thread apply all backtrace No registers. (gdb) quit I also ran valgrind on it. I'm attaching the output from that and gdb's full output, though I don't think there's anything useful in gdb's output. This began around 0700 UTC on Fri 26 Sep 2008. No evolution, libgtkhtml, or gtkhtml updates occurred in the last 24 hours, but firefox and xulrunner were updated. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Evolution "could not create composer window" and prompts about libgtkhtml and gtkhtml.
