closing the totem task because that's a driver issue but using x11 means
using slow software rendering rather than the video card acceleration,
you should consider opening a bug against the video driver you are using

X Windows System (no Xv)
note that X Windows is pretty crucial to the main linux gui (whichever distro i
think) so don't mess too much unless you're sure or have reinstall potential.

Hmmm, Trab suggested i try looking in gstreamer properties for solving a
slightly different flickering problem. Maybe it'd help you too
In a command/terminal window type
gstreamer-properties (tab-complete is handy as a predictive text thing here)
