This worked for me too. I've been having Evolution freeze regularly for about
6 months, finally found this thread. Edit/Plugins disable Templates, restarted
Evolution, solved it.

Thanks for xtrip for the tip. I checked my plugins, and found out that
after disabling templates plugin, evolution seemed to work again.
Thank you, xtrip, you made my day! The bug had been bugging me for over
a year.
So, if somebody has this kind of crash problem, go to evolution - edit
- plugin

I' v experienced the same thing with an evolution 2.28.0 and 2.26.1
(ubuntu karmic / kde 4.3.2) but not at start of it's usage.
By deduction i was thinking of disabling all plugins, and after sorting plugins
by enabling them one after one i found that
was the models plugin make evolution

I have this same problem. Managed to take a backtrace. I hope this
helps, because the problem is very irritating.
In this trace, I simply started evolution and right clicked a mail
message.

this is the second time you talk about /var/crash, there is nothing in
that when the bug happens. so provide us with a detailed way of creating
a crash report (if it is a crash which I doubt because otherwise there
would be a warning of crash report in Ubuntu.
