I can't reproduce it any more. I rebuilt the package included in the repository
but I couldn't notice any differences between this package, the binary package
and the source package from gamin's homepage.

I built this version:

I am using Kubuntu Dapper Drake and therefore I don't use GNOME. But I
don't believe that this is a KDE or GNOME specific problem
