This is a frequent problem, occurring several times a day. I'm running the latest version of Karmic Koala. -- [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310907 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 310907] Re: [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows
I can confirm this bug. I was playing Elevator in Aisleriot, and experienced the same issues that others are experiencing: screen froze momentarily while I was dragging a card, X crashed, X tried to restart and failed, computer needed hard shutdown. I would love to see this resolved as I think Aisleriot is excellent software. I'm not sure which logfiles would be useful, so please let me know and I will provide them. ** Changed in: xorg-server Status: New = Confirmed -- [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310907 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

comment from upstream: Ok, well, so it's a X driver bug, not an Aisleriot bug. Please file this against your distribution's X packages. Meanwhile, try running metacity, and with compositing disabled. ** Changed in: gnome-games (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: Confirmed = Triaged ** Changed in: gnome-games (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Invalid -- [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310907 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 310907] Re: [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows
This isn't a bug in gnome-games, it seems to be a bug in X driver (see an attachement). Bug description: I have the same bug with Asleriot. The X closes and tries to restart but in vain. See X.org log in attachement below. After crash it shows only cursor or blank screen. I use Compiz. Software versions are the same as those of reporter. ** Attachment added: X log after failure http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20733076/Xorg.0.log -- [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310907 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-games in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 310907] Re: [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. I have classified this bug as a bug in gnome-games. It appears that your bug report is missing the version of Ubuntu which is in your use and the version of gnome. If you could update your report with info about those version numbers. Ubuntu version number can be seen from System - About ubuntu, and right after the ubuntu logo from the text. Gnome version can be found from System - About gnome. Thank you in advance. ** Changed in: gnome-games (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None = gnome-games ** Changed in: gnome-games (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310907 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-games in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 310907] Re: [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows
Thank you for your directions. I accidentally installed a partial upgrade a few days ago and my system has had funny problems ever since. Your directions for finding the version number for example doesn't work since the version number isn't in the help file. After browsing through the file I have noticed many pieces of missing information that would be version specific. I can only guess that I have copies of rough drafts of the help files. Below are the version that I am using to my knowledge. [Bug 310907] Re: [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows
Thank you for filling the missing info! ** Description changed: I don't know if X-Windows is the right name. Ever since I upgraded to Intrepid, when I play freecell, while I am dragging a card, it crashes all of x-windows. Sometimes I have to ctrl-alt-backspace to recover, and other times I have to complete reboot the machine by holding down the power button. + + Ubuntu 8.10 + Gnome 2.24.1 Build Date 10/24/08 -- [Intrepid] Dragging in Freecell Crashes XWindows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310907 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-games in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
