I think this is still a bug, not Wishlist. It should be possible to get to the sound preferences though the System-Setting menu, instead of (or as well as) through the volume control panel applet, which is the only way to do this currently. Thanks for the response but where would I then find the system sound settings and volume control panel? The Volume Control button from the speaker doesn't work. I attached a screen shot of my preferences menu.
