I am having the same problem; this is really annoying. It happens a lot
with games (e.g. Quake2) currently I can't even seem to get to the files
via the command line which is weird. ls /media/cdrom0 lists nothing.
If I go to Browse on the right click menu it opens the SJ and lists
the first track
This still occurs in gutsy. exactly as Russel Winder said in comment 9

I just tried this on Feisty Fawn and the problem is still there. Put a
disc in and you get the choice dialogue data/cd. I press data and get
Nautilus to browse the data. If I then close the Nautilus window, and
double click the icon on the backdrop, I get SJ. I have a `Browse
Folder' entry on
I think this bug should be reported upstream.
I actually have a browse option on right click. But this also opens
SJ. If I use the places menu in nautilus an error pops up:
cdda:///dev/hdc is not a valid location.
Please check the spelling and try again.

The issue is something that need to be worked upstream and there is
already bugs about it, the task number is not really important for that

I still see the same behaviour.
Since this bug seems difficult to solve, I've listed all the possibilities to
access the contents of a Mixed-Mode CD and their respective outcomes below:
(A) After insertion, choose the desired method to open the CD:
Expected result: Open Sound Juicer or Nautilus
the upstream bug has been marked as fixed with a comment saying it works
fine with GNOME 2.14, do you still have the issue on dapper?
