[Bug 359563] Re: Feature request: Delete mail from pop-server after it is deleted form inbox/trash

2011-07-02 Thread Benny Butler
This seems like a pretty basic feature that all email clients should
provide. For me it is a make or break issue as to whether I continue
to use Evolution. I love all the other features that Evolution offers,
but I have multiple computers from which I view email from a half dozen
different servers. I don't want to have to go thru the junk and already
read email on the others after having done so in Evolution. Please make
this upgrade to the Ubuntu version. Thanks.

2011-04-04 Thread Ken Sharp
So this has been fixed upstream, when are we going to see it in Ubuntu?
These things take far too long to reach Ubuntu!

[Bug 359563] Re: Feature request: Delete mail from pop-server after it is deleted form inbox/trash

2010-10-21 Thread Fabián Rodríguez
Adding comments from the duplicate bug:

This is an optional feature that is not present in all mail clients.
Most users should be ok with (a) delete mail on server after receiving
or (b) keep messages on server after receiving. This requested option
treats the POP3 more like an indirect IMAP and may cause confusion
through complication of the interface. Nevertheless confirming this
feature is not available, marking as wishlist.

This should probably be marked wishlist as RFC 1939 (POP3) explicitly
indicates retention/deletion policy implementations may vary from server to
server and from client to client. See under 8. Scaling and Operational
Considerations:
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1939.txt
