1. It's not trivial to fix because window tracking is involved, so it's not a paper cut. 2. The solution described doesn't cover common cases where users actually want to open the trash window, but have unknowingly left another trash window minimized/underneath another window/on another

I agree to Joachim. This is a bug. It should work the way Pidgin, Rhythmbox or Deluge works. If the window is already open it should minimize. It is a small bug but it is annoying -- Clicking a second time on the Trash applet should close it, not open a second instance

Thanks for your bug. It acts the same way as any directory put on the panel by drag and drop. Your behaviour would mean programming a trash application rather than opening the nautilus view on the folder. I'm rejecting that bug, feel free to argue upstream if you strongly think that should be
