1. It's not trivial to fix because window tracking is involved, so it's not a
paper cut.
2. The solution described doesn't cover common cases where users actually want
to open the trash window, but have unknowingly left another trash window
minimized/underneath another window/on another
Is there any particular reason this is marked invalid? I think this is a
perfect papercut... and am nominating it as such.

I agree to Joachim. This is a bug. It should work the way Pidgin,
Rhythmbox or Deluge works. If the window is already open it should
minimize. It is a small bug but it is annoying

Thanks for your bug. It acts the same way as any directory put on the panel by
drag and drop. Your behaviour would mean programming a trash application rather
than opening the nautilus view on the folder. I'm rejecting that bug, feel free
to argue upstream if you strongly think that should be
