I got the same problem on a 8.04 Kubuntu with all the latest updates. Sorry, I haven't used totem in while and haven't gotten around to testing this. I still get the screensaver when playing a movie in totem not in fullscreen. Why the reassign to Kubuntu? It doesn't do it in Gnome either (gnome-screensaver, xscreensaver)... It's gone so bad that I start a movie in VLC and pause it just to stop the screensaver and then continue to watch the original movie in totem. The code should be there from ages ago but what?
