Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu
  xUbuntu 8.04.2.
2) The version of the package you are using
 gedit:
  Installiert:2.22.3-0ubuntu2
  Mögliche Pakete:2.22.3-0ubuntu2
  Versions-Tabelle:
3) What you expected to happen
I like to open the save-dialog, and to pick the name from the file to save.
4) What happened instead
For instance a class DateFormSpecial has to be named DateFormSpecial.java, but
once the modal dialog is open, I can't pick the name with the mouse. Yes, I
know, I could have picked it before. But why shouldn't I switch back to the
edit-mode, perhaps I see a typo in the moment I like to save? I missed to pick
it before, so I have to hit "escape", pick the name, open "save as" again.

Even worse: If it is a fresh file, the name is "Ungespeichertes Dokument 1"
(unsaved document 1 in english, I guess). WTF? Who ever likes to save his file,
which is probably not a document as "unsaved document X"? If you do that, it
isn't unsaved, so for all possible names, this one for sure is the most useless
filename you might think of. Why isn't the field just empty?
It's not helpful for a beginner and annoying for everyone! If you don't take
enough care to hit space immediately, but position the mouse in the field, the
marking is gone, and you can't mark the whole name with a doubleclick. So you
need at least half an hour to get rid of that silly dummyname. And got a stupid
blank instead. Like to put a word of the text as name of the document there.
Maybe a classname like DateFormSpecial, and need to close the dialog with the
nice empty Textfield, mark the name DateFormSpecial, open the save-dialog
again.

Well - the used behaviour is, that if you click the mousewheel alias
button 3 of your mouse (you own a mouse, do you?) the last marked text
is pasted, if possible, to the place of the cursor. Well - it doesn't
work, cause the stupid dummyname is marked for overwriting, so you paste
that name over itself, which isn't that much useful. It's like a zombie
who reappears everytime you think you killed it.

I'm using linux for 11 years, and on some parts it's getting less useful
than it was. Some handrails emerge as railings of a jail.
