$ gconftool-2 --dump /apps/gnome-screensaver /apps/gnome-power-manager
/desktop/gnome/session /desktop/gnome/lockdown screen-locking-
debug.xml
Also, could you try killing gnome-power-manager once more and starting
it the following way:
gnome-power-manager
Could you try killing gnome-power-manager and starting it the following
way:
gnome-power-manager --no-daemon --debug ~/gpm-log.txt 21
Once that's running in a terminal, try hibernating and resuming and
attach the generated log file to this bug.

If you lock the screen manually with Ctrl-Alt-L, does it lock properly?

No, it does not.
What do you do to trigger hibernation?
As reported originally I use Asus Eeepc 1000H (Ubuntu remix product branch
for netbooks). Hibernation is triggered by closing the cover - hibernation
event is generated.

- button shutdown the computer - Hibernate option selected - pc is in
hibernate state.
- Resume - no lock screen is shown.
Actually the same problem happens if I select hibernation manually from shut
down menu.
