Quoting https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=599230#c8 As stated in comment #1, GMail is saving copy of the sent message to Sent Mail folder on its own, which is not standard approach. You can edit your mail account and change the Sent folder to some other in the Defaults tab, say to the

Yes, GMail adds an auto-bcc to yourself for any message sent through SMTP-MSA, this isn't IMAP or POP specific. This does mean you don't need to automatically save a copy in the sent folder. That said, if you do save a copy in the sent folder, our duplicate detection should detect that and you

I just put it in the Sent folder on the local computer and periodically empty it out. That's what I call a bug, or an improper IMAP implementation. There should not be, in my way, a local duplicate of the sent messages. Sent messages should go to the GMAIL/Sent Messages folder; deleted messages

I don't think this is a bug in Evolution. As far as I know, the way that Gmail works is to put a copy of everything you send into the Sent Mail folder. This works great when you are using the web client. However, it also does this when you send something using the SMTP server. One of the folders
