As stated in comment #1, GMail is saving copy of the sent message to Sent Mail
folder on its own, which is not standard approach. You can edit your mail
account and change the Sent folder to some other in the Defaults tab, say to

I think Fedora has a better system of bug report management. Opened bugs
are only valid for the release life. It avoid the follow up for 2 y.o.

Yes, GMail adds an auto-bcc to yourself for any message sent through
SMTP-MSA, this isn't IMAP or POP specific.
This does mean you don't need to automatically save a copy in the sent
folder.
That said, if you do save a copy in the sent folder, our duplicate
detection should detect that and you
This bug normally indicates that the message being appended to the
sent folder doesn't have a message-id, and the client is relying on the
smtp server to add a message-id. This means the message will end up with
two different message ids (gmail will add one to APPEND messages as

I don't think this is a bug in Evolution. As far as I know, the way that
Gmail works is to put a copy of everything you send into the Sent Mail
folder. This works great when you are using the web client. However, it
also does this when you send something using the SMTP server.

after my previous message, I have openened 3 new accounts on 3 machines
at disposal. I have created 3 new evolution Gmail accounts in each - as
requested.
Output: I can reproduce the bug each time. Sent messages redirected in
the Gmail Send folder create duplicates.
