Public bug reported: Ekiga is an Internet/VoIP softphone. After signing up with the ekiga.net SIP service on startup, there are no hints about how to use this and no way to test that the SIP connection is currently working.
The sip: URI bar at the top of the screen could do with being populated with an example, such as: sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ("hello" is likely to be understood in many languages). The portion of this URI afte the 'sip:' can be highlighted so it is automatically overwritten if the user begins to type or paste a number in. The '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' could say 'Welcome' or 'Hello' in multiple languages followed by the useful 4-second loopback test. This would ensure the user was comforted, even if their microphone was not working and would check for a working SIP connection. Currently there is no clue as to how to start using Ekiga or ekiga.net after installation.
